Opening Doors

Not knowing when the Dawn will come,
I open every Door,
Or has it Feathers, like a Bird,
Or billows, like a Shore—

It is a blessing to be associated with the Iota Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International, a group of supportive and talented women educators, active and retired, who strive to do good things for those in their communities and to spur each other on to continued service. Last night we fellowshipped, took care of business that seeks always the best for young people in particular and for all people in general, and sought our own creative enrichment through a continued arts and crafts program presented over time by members. Last night I had the honor of presenting a program on the craft of writing, particularly fiction. This is a truly creative group—as educators tend to be. I am thankful for their enthusiasm and ever encouraging nature.

When I am writing, I am trying to find out who I am, who we are, what we’re capable of, how we feel, how we lose and stand up, and go on from darkness into darkness.” —Maya Angelou
