About the Book
After a summer of adventures with her lamb Dopey, Kelsi Fairgate looks forward to fifth grade, but she soon becomes disappointed and bored. A boy named Toby takes the seat she wanted by the tall window, she doesn’t get to sit near her best friend Ampara, and, worst of all, she and Toby get into a tussle. One Saturday Toby and his family come to lunch at the Fairgates home, a mysterious Great Egret appears, and the two “enemies” form a truce. Together with Ampara, the adventurous threesome, have fun and seek out the mysterious bird that eventually helps Kelsi and Ampara understand Toby and the struggles he and his family face.
